Held at various locations in Mashiko Town, mainly around Jonaizaka and Sayado.


The Mashiko Pottery Fair began in 1966 and is held annually during Japan’s Golden Week in spring, which is a collection of national holidays in late April and early May, and around November 3rd in autumn.

At the pottery fair, approximately 50 shops and over 600 tents are set up, offering a wide range of products from traditional Mashiko ware to everyday items like cups and plates, and even fine art pieces.

The diversity and abundance of choices make it an irresistible attraction, enticing visitors to return multiple times.In each tent, visitors can enjoy the pleasure of selecting pieces while having direct conversations with up-and-coming artists, renowned artists, and craftsmen from the kilns.

In addition to pottery, local agricultural products and specialty goods are also sold, making it a large-scale event that represents the region, attracting about 600,000 visitors annually in spring and autumn combined.
